Connect EBA DMS client with database

After installation and before using EBA DMS, you need to set up the connection to the database. The EBA DMS system uses the database to store documents, authorisations and all settings in the system.

In this section you connect the EBA DMS client to the database and connect to the local scanner database if you will be using it.

The database connection is written to the init.ini file. The default path to this file is C:\Program Files\EBA\init.ini

This path is set during installation and can be corrected later in the registry (REGEDIT- Registry editor) in the key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EBA\Client

To edit the database connection, you must have administrator rights on your computer (local or domain) and run the program using the Run as admin option.

When editing the database link, make sure that the appropriate link is selected – the blue highlighted row.

For a test installation, make sure to tick the “Link to test agency” checkbox in this step!

To set up a database connection, start EBA DMS without logging in and select Tools > Settings, section Database.

In the next step, select the type of database to use from the drop-down list.

Three database types are supported for the operation of the EBA DMS system – the main database.


SQLite – driver to connect to the SQLite database.
OracleOracle – driver to connect to the Oracle database. This option is only shown if you have OCI drivers pre-installed on your computer.
Virga Cloud – Driver to connect to the Virga Cloud database.
MySQL – driver to connect to the MySQL database.
PostgreSQL– driver to connect to the PostgreSQL database. EBA home database, recommended.
Microsoft Accessdriver to connect to the Microsoft Access database. Used in the case of a single-user version of the program.
Microsoft SQLdriver for connection to the Microsoft SQL database.
Borland Interbase – driver for FirebirdSQL databaseODBC
– select the ODBC driver to connect to the database.

After selecting the database type, enter the following information:

  • Database Name – the name of the database
  • User name to access the database.
  • The password to access the database, which belongs to the username
  • the name or IP number of the server where the database is located.
  • The port number (port) on which the database listens.

Update the database on new installation

On successful connection, you must perform a database update, which builds the tables, indexes and keys necessary for operation. To update the database, select the Update Database button.

Upon confirmation, a login window will open, allowing a user with administrator rights to log in. Only users with administrator rights can update the database. If the login is successful, the database update will start.

It is also necessary to upgrade the database when upgrading from an older version (say from 3.x to 4.x) and periodically during regular patches.
