EBA DMS offers various exchange plugins to exchange documents. Most plugins are peer-to-peer, other requires provider to forward data. There are four exchange plugins out-of-the-box in EBA DMS: Email exchange (IMAP and SMTP), MS Exchange and AS2. Other plugins are custom made by EBA or EBA Partners or other providers.

Each plugin has its own requirements described in separate articles but all of them require ebaExchange licence in order to exchange documents.
There are few general steps of settings to establish document exchange which are the same for all exchange plugins:
- Company must be subscribed to EBA DMS eXchange licence (see this article on how to obtain licence).
- Contact plugin developer to obtain it (see plugin article for information about developer).
- Enable plugin and set mandatory settings (see this article on how to setup plugin).
- Set rules for reception and sending documents (see this article on how to setup rules).
