We recommend that you regularly execute backups on a daily basis. All the data (documents, settings) in EBA DMS are written directly into to the database. Most sensitive data is coded so it can not be revealed even with direct access to the database.

We suggest you to regularly run maintenance works on your SQL and Application server to ensure best performance of EBA DMS system.

Save any changes prior executing a backup and make sure no one is using the system while backup creation. You have option to log out any user in menu Administration>Logs>Logged in users.

Files/data to backup:

  1. EBA DMS database

You can create database backup using SQL Browser Tool – more info here.
We suggest that you backup the entire database and its schema using SQL tools.
  2. EBA DMS installers

Copy installers of your EBA DMS version. We don’t hold old installers.
Make sure you have installers for EBA DMS Client (both 32 and 64bit if needed) and EBA DMS Application Services.
  3. Configuration (.ini) files

Copy configuration files for EBA DMS Client and EBA Application services.
    Default locations are:
    EBA DMS client – C:\Program Files\EBA\init.ini
EBA Application services – C:\Program Files\EBA_Automation_name\bin – all files with .ini extension.

Manual Backup

You have several options to manually perform backup:

Using EBA DMS Client

Open EBA DMS Client and select Tools menu > Database backup and restore.
Follow the wizard to create backup of a EBA DMS database.

Using EBA SQL Browser

Create EBA DMS database backup using SQL Browser tool. Separate article is available here.

Using EBA Automation

Run ebaautomation4.exe with option -autobackup.
Backup will be created in a folder defined in EBA Control Center in General tab.

C:\Program Files\EBAAutomation_name\bin>ebaautomation4.exe -autobackup

Automated Backup

We suggest you use your system’s options in combination with above written tasks to execute scheduled backups.

For example, you can use Windows Task Scheduler to run backup via ebaautomation.exe. However this only backups the database and not other files (installers and ini files) so use of dedicated backup software is recommended.
